Southern Highlands research scientist releases world's first Parkinson's screening test
Research scientist Dr Warwick Adams has developed a new tool that would allow signs of Parkinson's Disease (PD) to be detected earlier. Mr Warwick said it would allow individuals to do the test anonymously at home.
The initial university research took four years and involved 500 worldwide volunteers, both people with PD and a control group.
Ben Quilty's Afghanistan appeal will give much-needed cash injection to UNHCR
Highlands artist Ben Quilty was determined to assist people in Afghanistan and launched a fundraising appeal on the behalf of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). It has raised $1,306,514 so far on August 29 to provide water, shelter, psychological support, financial assistance and protection to vulnerable people.
Covid-19 won't stop a Highlands Rotary Club from helping the community
Although lockdown has hindered many community projects, the Rotary Club of Bowral-Mittagong has been determined to help people across the Highlands. The club has plenty of plans that would be beneficial to people across the region, and throughout Australia on its list.
