There's plenty happening across the Highlands, with something for everyone.
Check out what's back on and how you can get involved:
Farmer's market
The On the Grow Railway Street Farmers Market continues to provide a place to source healthy, fresh food. Located on the corner of Railway Avenue and Spring Street in Moss Vale, the markets are open from 3pm every Thursday afternoon.
Community pantry
The St Stephen's Anglican Church in Mittagong's popular morning tea has returned. Held on a Friday morning, this is supported with donations of cakes and pastries from Gumnut Patisserie, Bakers' Delight and the Chelsea Bakery in Mittagong. The morning tea is held each Friday from 10am until midday.
Retford Park open garden
Retford Park Garden will be open from September. Tickets will be available on the National Trust website and visits will be timed entry (including for the garden) and reduced capacity on house tours. It will be open on September 5 and 6 from 10am to 4pm. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $10 for concession, $35 for a family. National Trust members will have free entry. Visit www.nationaltrust.org.au/places/retford-park to book.
Exeter Markets
The next Exeter markets will be held on September 5. A country market with a vibrant community of makers, producers and sellers. This outdoor market has something for everyone from plants, pates, preserves and pastries to handcrafted homewares, fashion, jewellery and pre-loved wares. There is ample parking, plus a children's playground. It is held on the first Saturday of each month at Exeter Park. It will run from 9am until 1.30pm.
Parkinson's support
The monthly meetings continue to be postponed. Coffee and chat (under social distancing and sanitising rules) are on Saturday mornings 9.30am-10.30am at Bradman Museum (order at the cafe but seating is in the museum). For further information contact Mrs Dympna Irwin 4869 5252.
Bundanoon Makers Market
The Bundanoon Makers Market is held on the fist and third Sunday of every month (except January). The next one will be Sunday, September 6. It includes sewers, knitters, woodworkers, photographers, leatherwork and silver jewellery plus all you need for meals during the week with fresh fruit and vegetables, freshly baked bread, Lebanese take home meals, hot Indian dishes, Japanese pancakes, Honey and Eggs plus an assortment of cakes and pies. Held at Bundanoon Pubic School, the market will run from 8.30am until 2pm.
Bushwalkers
With some indoor activities still limited, now's a great time to get outdoors and enjoy some of the spectacular scenery the region has to offer. Southern Highlands Bushwalkers are still offering a range of walks. The next walk will take place on Sunday, September 6 at Burrawang. It will be an easy walk on a track near the rail line, starting on the edge of Robertson with rural scenes and views across from Burrawang to Kangaloon and will end overlooking the Wingecarribee reservoir. There will be a short car shuffle. Contact Margaret on 0490 803 576 or Malcolm on 0405 524 707 to book a spot.
