The team from Bakers Delight Bowral has been awarded the 2019 Craftsman's Perpetual Trophy for the sixth consecutive year.

This prestigious annual award recognises great bakers who have contributed to the industry and pride themselves on their artisan skills.

A passion for the art of bread making has been passed down to the team from local bakery owners Jo and Geoff Harrington, who have dedicated their careers to developing the next generation of bakers.

Jo and Geoff employ many locals across their two bakeries in Bowral and Mittagong and are passionate about sharing their love of bread making and ensuring their staff are continually progressing in their careers.

"Developing local baking talent is so important and we are privileged to have two former Bowral High students, William and Peter Nicolaou, complete their apprenticeships with us and now head up our Mittagong team," said Jo.

Jo and Geoff, who have owned Bowral Bakers Delight for over 20 years and Mittagong for 17, are committed to the art of bread baking and offer the most extensive range of gourmet and artisan breads on the Highlands.

"There is nothing more exciting than starting the morning with an empty bakery and filling it with bread you have hand crafted from scratch. Sharing this skill with our team and providing high-quality product to our local community are two of the most rewarding aspects of what we do," Geoff said.

The Wollongong Baking Awards are hosted by the Baking Association of Australia (BAA), a professional organisation that allows bakeries to showcase their artisan skills and compete at the highest national level.

Southern Highland locals can honestly say they are feeding their families award winning bread, with Bakers Delight Bowral and Bakers Delight Mittagong taking home six awards, including four gold medals:
