Traffic and road closures
Traffic control will be in place from 8am to help with preliminary closures and to assist parade entrants between 10am and 11am. The citizenship ceremony begins at 9am.
Closures:
- The Old Hume Highway in Berrima will be closed from 11am to 1pm. This is a fixed closure with no vehicles will be permitted, including those of residents.
- Oxley Street (east, next to the public school) will be closed to the public at 8.00 am. Residents are permitted until the fixed road closure begins at 11am.
- Jellore Street will be closed with residents permitted through Bryan Street until the fixed road closure.
Traffic detours:
- Affected traffic travelling south to north will be diverted back through Moss Vale and Bowral.
- Affected traffic travelling north to south will be diverted down Oxley Hill Road into Bowral. The Hume Highway is another option to avoid having to go through town.
All traffic will resume and all roads will reopen as normal after 1pm.
For the parade
Parade and display participants will arrive between 8am and 11am, and it will take place between 12pm and 1pm.
The street parade will assemble and start from Oxley Street (east, next to the public school) travel south down the Old Hume Highway through Berrima and finish at Market Place Park.
Parking
Traffic controllers will be operating in and around Berrima on the day, with limited parking in the village.
There will be no public parking on Jellore or Bryan Street (around the Market Place Park, West) between 8am and 1pm.
This area is for the parade and vehicle display participants.
The Old Hume Highway will be closed from the north of Oxley Street to over the bridge, south of Bryan Street between 11am and 1pm, where no vehicle can enter or leave the village during this time.
Event staff, traffic controllers and parade participants may use the road during closure for preparation and/or marshalling of the parade.
Pedestrians should be mindful when using the road, and reduced speed zones have been put in place outside the road closure areas.
