The Studio will be its 'own house of creativity' for students at Oxley College
Students at one college now have the opportunity to "unleash" their creativity in a larger space, after a highly-anticipated "hub" was unveiled. Senior students, staff, members of the faculty, and guests, gathered at Oxley College on May 4, to officially open the new premises, which is called The Studio.
The Southern Highlands Parkinson's Support Group honour local Parkinson's Community Heroes
Members of the Southern Highlands Support Group came together to celebrate the "heroes" who have brought joy, and supported them over the years. The group, along with carers and a representative from Parkinson's NSW, gathered at Mittagong RSL on May 10, to name this year's Parkinson's Community Heroes.
The Southern Highlands Evening VIEW Club help raise funds for The Smith Family at a Mittagong luncheon
Members of 14 Voice, Interests and Education of Women (VIEW) Clubs came together at Mittagong RSL on May 11, for a gala luncheon, where they socialised and fundraised for The Smith Family. More than 15,000 VIEW Clubs members across Australia sponsor about 1500 students through the charity's Learning for Life program, which assists families and provides children with school essentials.
Burrawang RFS volunteers awarded National Emergency Medals for their efforts in the bushfires
The dedication and bravery of 18 volunteers from the Burrawang Rural Fire Brigade in the 2019/20 bushfires, have been recognised in a special award ceremony. Volunteers were given a National Emergency Medal at the Burrawang School of Arts on May 18.
Ernie Walker OAM meets a special horse named Tobruk
Ernie Walker OAM had the opportunity to meet a horse who was not only re-named in his honour, but holds a special place in his extended family's heart. Previously named Louis, the horse was renamed Tobruk, to commemorate Ernie's efforts in Libya, during World War Two.
