Senior students, staff, members of the faculty, and guests, gathered at Oxley College on May 4, to officially open the new premises, which is called The Studio.
Contemporary artist Ben Quilty cut the official ribbon and said it was a "fantastic" area.
"I think for any student to study humanities, it gives them permission... to continue to study," he said.
The college's former maintenance shed has been transformed into a space which will house cutting-edge technology.
"It offers more space to be creative and it offers quite an aspiring space to be," said Year 12 Design and Technology (DT) student Olivia Scott.
"[It is its] own house of creativity," said Henry Connell, who is also studying DT as part of the HSC.
DT student Baxter Gregory said the new area was "very progressive", and more "hands on...not limited to a traditional classroom".
The Studio has expansive work benches and different rooms where students can work on larger-scale projects.
Some students have already had the chance to work in the rooms.
DT teacher and Head of House Durack Dene Patterson said there was "room to do more", and its layout would encourage collaboration among peers.
"It's obviously going to be inspiring for them," added head of the Art, Technology and Design department Richard Madden.
Another perk that DT and Visual Arts student Will Dowe liked, was that it was in a quiet part of the school, and was "close to nature".
"[It] let's the imagination run," he said.
Sophie Nash-Smith, another DT student doing her HSC, agreed and loved the "natural light", and room to work.
Henry added that the modern space would be similar to something he would "experience after school", when he pursues tertiary studies.
