60 members, past members and guests attended a luncheon at the Bundanoon Club on Sunday, May 22.
The traditional toast to the International Association of Lions Clubs was proposed by WSC Interim Administrator Viv May and responded to by Lions District Governor Lorna Gordon, from Canberra.
Mr May gave a brief overview of Shire matters before paying tribute to the club on its record of service over the past three decades.
Two of the original members were able to attend: Jacqueline Cory, who still lives n Bundanoon, and Trish Friend, who drove down from Sydney. Past-presidents of the club Les Johnson (Corowa) and Geoff John (Crookwell) were also present, together with representatives of eight other Lions Clubs.
President Harry Hull, who is approaching the end of his third term of office, outlined some of the recent activities of the club and its significant role in the Bundanoon Community, while Trish Friend spoke of the excitement and activity of the early days and club Secretary Elizabeth Cranny spoke of the last decade or so.
The importance of that role was emphasised by the presence of representatives from many other Bundanoon clubs and organisations.
Presentations were made to Harry and Karin Hull, who have moved from Bundanoon to be closer to family and to the Bundanoon Club and chef Anthony Pellegrino, who caters for club meetings.
Over the years Bundanoon Lions have been involved in too many community activities to list, but they include tree plantings; picnic setting in Picnic Park; projects at the Public School, Pre-School and Warrigal Care; collections for disasters such as fire, flood, drought and tsunami; functions for seniors and the disadvantaged and much more.
The club's current project is the sponsorship of a teachers' kit for Indigenous education, developed by member Pat Hall in association with Gundungurra Elders.
The club is always open to new members and supporters; the 2022-23 President Ralph Clark (0418 265 529) is the person to contact.
