What will prompt NSW Minister of Local Government Shelley Hancock to call a public inquiry into Wingecarribee Shire Council?
The question on everyone's lips is: will there be a public inquiry into Wingecarribee Shire Council?
If there is an inquiry, the local council elections slated for December 4 could be postponed.
The council would also join a long list of other councils across NSW that have had public inquiries. To date, there have been 16 public inquiries held in the last 18 years.
Wingecarribee Shire Council interim administrator Viv May threw his support behind a public inquiry at the July 28 Extraordinary Meeting of the council. Read about it here.
Life saving cancer screening put on hold
A potentially life-saving cancer screening test has been put on hold in Bowral.
BreastScreen NSW has closed several screening sites as the Covid-19 pandemic spreads across the state.
Despite not being a part of the greater Sydney lockdown, Bowral BreastScreen has temporarily closed and has left women across Wingecarribee and Goulburn with next to zero options to access the early detection scan. You can read about it here.
Moss Vale resident urges people to sign up as a organ or tissue donor
Moss Vale resident Charles Ironside encourages people to register as organ or tissue donors after his experience because "at its best, a life is saved."
About 13 million people throughout Australia over the age of 16 are eligible to donate their organs, but only seven million have registered.
Mr Ironside did between 60 and 75 blood and plasma donations before he saw a placard that encouraged people to register as organ and bone marrow donors.
"I had a lifelong belief of people doing things for their community," he said. Read Charlie's story here.
25 years of cutting (and growing) for Bowral barber Asish Kumar
His core business might be cutting hair, but it's growth that is on Asish Kumar's mind today.
August 12 marks a quarter of a century since Asish and his wife Veema, towing their eldest daugher Jenika, arrived to set up a barber shop on Bong Bong Street.
And that's exactly where his loyal customers have found him ever since, although these days his two younger children - Nikhil and Shivana - join him at the chairs.
It's 25 years of growing a business and relationships, just as his father, grandfather and great-grandfather did before him in Fiji, and - according to family lore - going back about 400 years in India. Read more about Asish and his business here.
