Special guests on the day were Wingecarribee Shire Council facilities officer Julianne Billington and Lynne Morrisson who served on the management committee for more than 10 years.
Mittagong District Senior Citizens' Welfare Centre treasurer Shirley Faulkner thanked everyone for attending the celebration.
"We truly appreciate you accepting our invitation to come along and participate in our celebrations," she said.
"We celebrate and recognise 41 years of occupancy in these clubrooms and the close relationship that is between the Mittagong Senior Citizens and council."
The Mittagong Senior Citizens' and Community Centre was opened on April 18, 1980, by the Governor-General, Sir Zelman Cowen.
First formed in 1974, the Mittagong and District Senior Citizens' Welfare Club would meet each week in the old RSL building near the railway station.
When the RSL moved, the Mittagong Shire council took over the building and rented the downstairs room, with kitchens and toilets to the club for $1 a week.
However, the group set their sights on building their clubhouse on the vacant land behind the post office. The Mittagong Senior Citizens club made several enquiries and were supported by the council.
A submission was made in 1976 for several grant funds across the three tiers of government and was approved in 1978. By 1980, the clubhouse was ready.
Currently, the Mittagong and District Senior Citizens' Welfare Centre has 40 members and work to a timetable for all their activities.
Ms Faulkner said she hoped the vaccine rollout would increase the number of members.
"We'll be able to introduce crafts, carpet bowls and other special days back in our routine," she said.
"The day was a great success in celebration of past members who worked so hard to establish the centre and so have their dreams fullfilled."
