Wingecarribee Shire Council has announced a series of candidate information sessions for residents interested in standing for the NSW Local Government Elections on September 4.

The first session is being run by the NSW branch of the Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALGWA) and is specifically targeted at women.
Facilitated by Shellharbour City Council Mayor, Ms Marianne Saliba, the afternoon will include general information on local government and the skills needed to be a councillor.
Mayor Saliba will share her experiences, answer questions and provide information on the support services available to elected members.
The ALGWA Women's Forum will be held on Saturday May 22 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Moss Vale Services Club.
The next series of information sessions are being run by Local Government NSW (LGNSW) and are for all persons considering standing for election.
Facilitated by Ms Noleen Jessup, this session provides participants with an understanding of the role of the councillor and how it works in conjunction with other levels of government.
Participants will discuss the expectations and potential challenges and identify key elements of council meetings - including code of conducts and conflicts of interest.
The LGNSW Pre-election Candidate Information Session will be held on Thursday June 10 between 3pm and 5.30pm and again between 6 pm and 8.30 pm at the Moss Vale Services Club.
An additional session will be delivered online with a date to be determined.
"If you're passionate about what happens in your local community, becoming a councillor is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and to represent the interests of residents," said Ms Lidgard.
"Anyone who has an interest in running for Wingecarribee Shire Council in the upcoming election is encouraged to attend."
All sessions are free to attend however bookings are required. Each session is limited to 50 participants to comply with COVID restrictions.
Moss Vale Services Club is located at the corner of Argyle and Yarrawa Streets in Moss Vale.
