The state funeral will be held at St Mary's Cathedral, College Street, Sydney, commencing at 11:00am.
The State Funeral will be an opportunity to honour the former NSW Premier (1992-1995), who dedicated almost two decades of his life in service to NSW and Australia.
During his time as Premier, Mr Fahey's many achievements included the introduction of the Disability Services Act, the swearing in of the first NSW Minister for the Status of Women and the introduction of the NSW Senior's Card.
As Minister for Industrial Relations, he led a major overhaul of the state's Industrial Relations system. He also played a key role in one of the biggest victories in NSW and Australian history - the successful bid for Sydney to host the Olympic Games in 2000.
To continue to keep the community safe during COVID-19, attendees at the State Funeral have been limited to Mr Fahey's family and invited guests, including senior government representatives from the NSW Table of Precedence.
Members are welcome to watch the Service online at www.nsw.gov.au/statefuneral.
The Service will be live streamed from 11:00am and a full recording of the Service will also be made available on the website to watch later.
As the State Funeral is a Requiem Mass, it is expected to be of around two hours duration.
Condolences can be given through the online condolence book at www.nsw.gov.au/statefuneral.
The family has requested that, in lieu of floral tributes, donations be made to the Leukaemia Foundation www.leukaemia.org.au
Interment arrangements will be private.
