The national 2019 Surveying Consultancy Excellence Awards recognise performance excellence in surveying consultancies across the nation.
Australian Survey Solutions was named the winner in the small consultancy business category.
The company has been based in Bowral for the last nine years and specialises in greenfield subdivisions, project management, town planning, construction and bushfire consulting, while remaining community focused.
Surveying helps identify boundaries between properties.
Paul Brandon, CEO, was thrilled by the announcement and proud of the team he has built and nurtured.
"I wanted to control my own destiny when I started my own business," he said
He credits the business' success to taking care of employees and creating a positive work culture.
"Right from the word go, we put this goal in place and are continually evolving and improving our model of employee and client care.
"We strongly advocate and support the ongoing education of our staff, both formally and in-house, to encourage them to become the best person and best professional they can be.
"We've had a number of local people come through and we train them up.
"Our commitment to the furthering of our staff has paid off in the level of professionalism we provide to clients.
Australian Survey Solutions has undertaken a number of pro bono surveying work for community orginisations such as Robertson Men's Shed, St Vincent de Pauls in Moss Vale, the Southern Highlands Basketball Association and Highland Hawks AFL team.
In addition to pro bono work, the company currently working on a program Bowral High School aimed at encouraging more women into a surveying career.
"It's a traditionally make dominated field and there's no reason why it should be the case," he said.
"[The program with Bowral High School] is in it's preliminary stages, it's still early days but we have approached them to do talks about women in surveying."
