Wingecarribee Shire councillors approved Centennial Vineyards' modification application to host A Day on the Green with eight votes to one at the February 27 meeting.
The approval will give Centennial Vineyards the opportunity to put its hat into the ring to host international music acts.
Alicia Keys, Lionel Richie, INXS, Marcia Hines, Paul Kelly, Baby Animals and Noiseworks are among the big names the vineyard has hosted previously.
Centennial Vineyards owner John Large said the majority vote reflected council's support for tourism initiatives.
"Most councillors realised this area needs some value from entertainment and exposing itself this way," Mr Large said.
"You’ve got the Parkes Elvis Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Everyone has realised they need to work to attract people to their area.
"I think [council] realised the economic impact can’t be avoided, tourism is invaluable and the enjoyment of people in the area to have something like this on their doorsteps."
The conditions of the modification application approval is the crowd capacity is at 10,000 and the end time is set at 10.30pm.
Mr Stead said the 10,000 person capacity would allow the vineyards to attract international performers.
The vineyard will be allowed to have four concerts per calendar year for a period of five months from the date of the first concert.
No more than two concerts are permitted per month, and no two concerts are permitted on consecutive weekends.
Traffic management was addressed in detail at the council meeting.
As a part of the DA conditions, there will be dedicated pick-up and drop-off locations for both buses and cars, and changes to on-site parking.
There are two more steps before the concerts can be held.
The next step will be speaking to Roundhouse Entertainment, the promoter of A Day on the Green.
After that the vineyard will have to fulfill the conditions of the DA approval.
Mr Large said depending on these factors, he hoped to have a concert organised for the end of the year.
