He has been a dedicated volunteer at the Bradman Foundation for two years, and has spent hundreds of hours sharing his knowledge and to renovate and transform the museum and oval.
The volunteer has been announced as the Southern Highlands Community Foundation's (SHCF) latest Highlands Hero.
"I'm a hands-on person who gets immense satisfaction from what I do," he said.
"What drives me is helping to create something special - somewhere that makes visitors say 'Wow, this place looks like it's cared about', and quite frankly we have a lot of fun too."
The 100-seat theatre in the museum has been repaired after flood damages, sections of the ceiling have been repaired and repainted, steps have been built and exhibitions have been revamped.
The cricket chamgerooms have also been updated outside, plaques have been restored and 23 wooden bench seats have been cleaned and refurbished.
"Peter's efforts are often recognised by locals and visitors who comment on how well maintained the infrastructure surrounding the museum is and how this enhances their experience and enjoyment," Jecca Blake from the Bradman Foundation said.
"Peter has also had a positive impact on our other staff and volunteers, instilling us all with a renewed sense of pride in what we do."
The SHCF aims to recognise hard-working volunteers across the region, who are awarded $5000 for their organistion through the Highlands Hero initiative.
Mr Titmus is the first hero named in 2024.
Plans for the funding at the foundation include scaffolding to make difficult repairs safer and a water pressure cleaner.
"I think that volunteers like Peter are critical to the fabric of our community. He is a fantastic example of a true unsung hero," SHCF chair Nicole Smith said.
"The amount of time and work he's put into the Bradman Foundation is just incredible.
We are absolutely thrilled to be able to help recognise his hard work and dedication with this award".
Past Highlands Heroes include Sonya Davis for her work with the Hill Top Community Association and wildlife rescuer Kerstin Schweth.
Nominations are open all year round.
