The Australian Heritage Festival is making a comeback, with it returning in NSW from April 18, to May 19.
This year's theme is connections, which aims to celebrate the rich and diverse stories of Australia, acknowledging links to the past, people and places.
The Southern Highland News has listed this year's events in the region, and recommendations for places to visit.
Autumn House and Garden inspections
Visit three private properties and their gardens on April 30. They have been chosen for their heritage roots, attractiveness and uniqueness.
The first visit will be at 10.30am just outside Exeter, with a morning tea at a 50-year-old upgraded house. It features a collection of European furniture, decorative arts and artworks.
The second home is in Sutton Forest. It is a regency-styled house with 18th and 19th century artworks. It will begin at 12.15pm.
The final stop is at a property in Moss Vale from 2.30pm, in a Victorian townhouse. It is a guided self-driven tour, and the property owners will be onsite.
Tickets are $65 for National Trust members, $75 for non-members and $70 for concession holders. Book through Eventbrite.
A Regency Affair in Exeter
Immerse yourself in a costumed regency house party in Exeter. There will be a catered picnic, croquet and workshops. It is being hosted by Sydney Regency Weekends and will be held at the Exeter Village Hall, from May 17 to 19.
There will be lunches, morning and afternoon teas and a grand opening dinner on the Friday (May 17).
It will be followed by a pre-ball dinner, dance classes and a ball on Saturday (May 18), with a picnic lunch and visit to a National Trust property on the Sunday.
Tickets prices include three days and are $65 for children 14 and under, $125 for uniformed members of military re-enactors, and $250 for general admission. Buy them through Humantix.

Visit Redford Park
Explore and wander through the former home of James Fairfax AC and the picturesque, heritage gardens. It was built in 1887 by the Horden family and redesigned by the former owner in the 1960s.
It is open every Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Harper's Mansion
There is lots to see at this historic mansion in the heart of Berrima.
Highlights include the home itself which has archives and replicas, the garden maze, Hazelnut Walk and historic roses.
Tickets are $42 for two adults and two kids, $15 for people aged 16 and above, $12 for concessions, and kids under five can enter for free.
