The road is deteriorated between Merrigang Street and Range Road.
A press release said council was working closely with its design consultant, geotechnical engineers and Stefanutti Constructions to "investigate the cause of the pavement failure and to commence with the appropriate remediations".
Known as stage three, the 1.3 kilometre stretch of road north of Aylmerton Road in Mittagong, would link to the first two stages of roadworks.
Two significant culverts have been reconstructed and roadworks have progressed with widening, shoulder construction and sub-soil drainage.
This stage is scheduled to be completed by late May, weather permitting.
Construction tender was awarded to Stefanutti Construction Pty Ltd in October, 2022 to rehabilitate 9.6 kilometres of the road between Merrigang Street and Bowral, to Aylmerton Road in Mittagong.
Stage two from Range Road to Aylmerton Road began in January, 2023, and stage one from Merrigang Street to Range Road commenced in May, 2023
