The commercial construction company Belmadar was recently given a Master Builder Award at the Excellence in State Awards in Sydney.
It was recognised in the Restoration and Adaptive Re-Use of a Historic Building category.
"Attracting an industry accolade like this is a win for the whole community," said council's manager of project and delivery Ned Tripkovic.
"What we've built together is something unique in the region and it's being recognised widely as something very special."
The awards are held by the Master Builders Association (MBA).
The building was originally constructed in 1880 as a school of arts and became known as the Bowral Memorial Hall in the 1920s.

The MBA site said "considerable structural works were necessary" for the upgrades which included new sub floor structures and flooring, the underpinning of walls, and a rework of all of the services.
The initial end purpose of the hall was for general uses, but changed to a concert hall, which led to additional delays to accommodate this.
"This well completed upgrade has ensured that the historic building will continue as a Concert Hall/Performing Arts Centre for the Bowral community for years to come," the website said.
"The complete re-design of Bowral Memorial Hall, along with its heritage value made this a very involved and complicated build," Mr Tripkovic said.
