So, with that in mind, the Southern Highland News will bring you all the developments currently on public exhibition with council, and a brief summary of what is being applied for.
All developments are sorted below by the date submissions on the applications close - submissions on any of the following DAs can be made on the Wingecarribee Shire Council DA tracker.
Development applications dealing with private residences have not been included on this list unless they would create a dual occupancy, involve a block of units or apartments, or would add another storey to the house.

A proposed lithium-ion battery energy storage unit has been applied for at 193-203 Old Hume Highway, Mittagong. Estimated cost is $130,000. Associated documentation includes a statement of environmental effects by Clean Peak Energy on behalf of the proprietor Bieson Pty Ltd. It says the proposed development would support the recent installation of solar energy infrastructure at the Highlands Marketplace in Mittagong. It involves the construction of a concrete block enclosure as infill construction located underneath a suspended carpark at the north western end of the site. The storage unit would be located in an area 8.8 metres by 7.1 metres, enclosed by concrete block walls on a concrete slab floor. It has been independently risk assessed and satisfies the CSIRO Australian Best Practice Guide Electrical Safety Standards for Battery Storage Equipment.

A residential new secondary occupancy has been applied for at 29 Kimberley Drive, Bowral. It includes demolition of the existing dwelling and outbuilding, and the construction of a principal dwelling, secondary dwelling and a cabana. Hogan Planning put the application together, the build would cost an estimated $3,750,000. The application will be handled by "internal referrals" at Wingecarribee Shire Council.
Monday, July 17
A development application [DA] for demolition works, tree removal and construction of a light industrial unit development at 8 McCourt Road, Moss Vale was lodged by McCourt Road Investments Pty Ltd. Estimated cost is $9,885,700 and the DA is on public exhibition until Monday, August 21. The applicant seeks consent to demolish existing structures, remove trees and construct a light industrial development over two stages containing 22 units with mezzanine areas, together with associated car parking, landscaping and site drainage/civil works. The proposal includes detailed architectural drawings by ADM Architects.

More information has been requested by Wingecarribee Shire Council for a development application by Nakar Pty Ltd for a gas powered electricity generating plant at Tarcoola Park on 30 Douglas Road, Moss Vale. Estimated cost is $517,343 and the DA is on public exhibition until Tuesday, August 22.

An application for an "educational establishment" at 22 Boardman Road, Bowral has been lodged by DFP Planning Pty Ltd on behalf of the Southern Highlands Christian School. The proposal involves modifications to the approved design, including expansion of the northern side, of 'Bock D'. This would enable construction of a new storeroom, bathroom facilities and a kitchen as well as landscaping amendments and minor civil works. The applicant is seeking permission for a new classroom development and tree removal. A statement of environmental effects found the proposed modifications would have a "minimal" environmental impact.

An application for a two lot subdivision at 40 Railway Road, Moss Vale was lodged by Alistair McIntyre for an estimated cost of $20,000. The property type is Farmland Rating.
Wednesday, August 9
A residential dual occupancy has been applied for at 17 Sullivan Road, Burradoo. The application is for a secondary dwelling and carport estimated to cost $294,000. Applicant Justin Dykes has completed a statement of environmental effects and neighbour notification. The proposal involves the construction of a new, attached dual occupancy dwelling. Construction is primarily timber framed, colorbond steel clad roof with a simple, modern colorbond sheet and timber clad exterior. The property is located on the eastern side along a local, sealed road and is located amongst similar aged properties.

A proposed secondary dwelling has been applied for at 5 Ligar Street, Hill Top. It's a residential new secondary occupancy. The DA by applicant Ragin Shah is sitting with Wingecarribee Shire Council's "internal referrals". Cost is estimated at $96,650.
Friday, August 11
An application for a subdivision of one lot into two lots has been lodged for 18 Ascot Road, Bowral by Alexandra McLoughlin. It's a residential subdivision with no other supporting material attached. Wingecarribee Shire Council's decision is "pending".

Briars Inn and Lodge on Moss Vale Road, Burradoo has applied to subdivide two lots of land, and for permission to build a new commercial kitchen estimated to cost $50,000. The DA was put by applicant Matthew Duffy. He's also seeking permission for alterations and additions to the business premises, temporary use of an existing marquee to provide for overflow and weather protected space, and ongoing use of existing structures associated with the established use of the site as a pub.

An eight lot strata subdivision has been applied for at 6 Tyree Place, Braemar. Applicant is Stonetable Pty Ltd. The decision is being listed under "internal referrals" at Wingecarribee Shire Council. A statement of environmental effects has been lodged in which the subdivision is referred to as a "strata title subdivision of a constructed industrial development". It was prepared by LEP Environmental Planning on behalf of the proprietor. The report says the strata title scheme will provide for the management of each approved industrial unit as separate entities with separate title, with allocated car spaces for each unit and common property of driveways and some site landscaping areas. The site adjoins the Bunnings Warehouse site and is adjacent to long established Tyree Enterprises. Due to the nature, scale and value of the proposal, it can be considered as local development and Wingecarribee Shire Council is the consent authority. According to the report the development would facilitate an outcome that allows for effective management of land and industrial buildings, in a locality that has been identified for this purpose: "It is compatible with the prevailing development pattern within the locality."

A two lot subdivision was applied for at 62 Old South Road, Bowral. The application by Hogan Planning is for modification to an existing development application [DA]. The decision is "pending".

A two lot subdivision was applied for at 107 Main Street, Mittagong by Southern Highlands Rentals.
