It has been able to proceed virtually unhindered with its fundraising and community service activities.
The Club was involved in at least 32 Highlands community events and the members provided more than 2500 hours of unpaid community service (worth about $87,000).
Among other achievements, the charity dinner last November raised $30,000 for the free aeromedical transport service provided by Angel Flight and cash donations of more than $57,000 were made to various areas of need.
A new freezer was provided for the community kitchen at the Bowral Uniting church and with the assistance of Moss Vale Lions Club, an insulin pump was procured for a Highlands critical diabetes sufferer.
Wherever there is a community event in the Highlands, large or small, you will see Rotary there to support the occasion and the community in events such as: the Highlands fest; manning the entry gates at Tulip Time in Corbett Gardens or managing the barbecue and the parking at the Bong Bong Picnic Races.
Other activities this year include:
- planting trees in the Adopt-a-Tree program; supporting the Uniting Church community kitchen;
- catering for a national car club rally; and
- organising the Model United Nations Assembly and the Science Engineering Challenge for the schools in the Highlands.
Rotary is really doing good in the Highlands and in the world.
