SES volunteers band together for the World's Greatest Shave

He has united with Thomas Bodey, Kurtis Demkin and Amelia Court from the Wingecarribee and Moss Vale SES units to raise funds.

The annual fundraiser by the Leukemia Foundation (LF), aims to raise funds and awareness for blood cancers.

The SES team's goal is to raise $2000, and so far, $1413 has been raised at the time of publication.

Mr Syniuta has had friends and family members diagnosed with different cancers in the past, and was "proud" to do his bit.

"It's for a good cause and I am happy to do it and show my support," he said.

The group will shave and dye their hair on March 16, which falls during "Shave Week".

The volunteers are not the only ones fundraising - LF employee and Renwick resident Jacob Hogarth grew and shaved off a mullet on March 15.

"I want to thank each and every person who has signed up so far to World's Greatest Shave to make it their mission to beat blood cancer," LF CEO Chris Tanti said.

Since it began, more than 2 million people have shaved, dyed or cut their hair.

According to the foundation, more than 135,000 people live with a blood cancer nationwide, where 53 people are diagnosed, and 18 lose their lives daily daily.

By 2035, this diagnosis statistic is expected to double.

Funds are dedicated to research, as well as support services for cancer patients and their loved ones.
