It was meant to go ahead on November 18, 2022.
The board cited the ongoing struggle with extreme wet weather and water logged track and grounds as the reason for the cancellation.
"After two years off due to COVID our dedicated Board and volunteers have been working extremely hard to provide the framework for a successful race day."
The board said it was with the greatest regret that the Bong Bong Picnic Race Club would be abandoned.
"This decision follows consultation with Racing NSW Stewards and numerous inspections of the track and grounds by the board," they said in a statement.
"The increasing non-negotiable risks around safety, logistics and overall success caused by current and forecast weather conditions, has left the board with no option but to abandon the race day.
"Whilst we understand this news is disheartening to all members, sponsors and guests it is beyond our control.
"We take this opportunity to thank all our generous sponsors and local suppliers, the last few years have been tough for the Southern Highlands and we are grateful for the continued support of the community.
"A final thank you to all for your understanding of this difficult situation."
Refunds will be available, the community is asked to contact the Bong Bong Picnic Races board.
