Embrace Kids, which is directed by Taryn Brumfitt, will be screened at the Empire Cinemas on October 20 from 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
The event is being held by the Bowral District Children's Foundation (BDCF) as part of a fundraiser, during Mental Health Awareness Month.
The foundation donated funds towards the production of the documentary, which has a mix of elements such as music, animation, interviews and live action.
It breaks down how social media, advertising, celebrity culture and the diet and fitness industries impact people's feelings about their bodies.
Ms Brumfitt will host a question and answer session and book signing afterwards.
She is an author, keynote speaker and founder of the Embrace Hub, which is full of resources on body images for children.
The fundraiser is part of BDCF's mission to improve the mental health and well-being of children across the Highlands.
The foundation has raised more than $1.5 million in the last 13 years for a variety of projects for youth in the region.
These have included sponsorships of a youth mental health and weight clinician and ward upgrade at the Bowral Children's Hospital, a community coordinator at Reframe, a child well-being coordinator at Popin and youth mentors at Bowral and Moss Vale High Schools.
The foundation has also been involved in well-being education sessions with the mental health organisation Batyr, and the Butterfly Foundation.
Tickets for the screening are $25 per adult and $15 per child, and can be purchased through the Empire Cinemas' website.
Celeste Barber, Natasha Stott Despoja AO and Teresa Palmer are the film's executive producers.
