The recent wet weather has led to tyre marks left all over Cherry Tree Walk next to the 8RAR memorial.
The damage was discovered on Tuesday by Vietnam vets who walk Cherry Tree Walk every Tuesday.
Veteran Tony Burke said the damage wasn't there the week before.
Mr Burke said he felt it wasn't vandals who caused the damage but "someone who is not aware of the significance of the walk and the 8RAR Memorial Grove."
"It will be discussed at a meeting on Monday to work out strategies to prevent this sort of damage from occurring again," he said.
"The first task is to remind the public that the Vietnam War Memorial and The Cherry Tree Walk is a national dedicated War Memorial to all who served during the Vietnam war and those who were killed serving this nation.
"Hence the 521 names on the monument."
The memorial was built in 2004 by the 8RAR Association and contains a monument, a grassy mini Parade Area, and 21 Cherry Trees.
A service conducted by 8RAR will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 10:30 for an 11 am start.
The committee will inspect the damage and consider moving their service to the main monument if required.
8RAR Association Members will be on-site to remember their fallen in Vietnam, in particular the 10 diggers who were killed in action in one day in February 1970.
