Southern Highlands Evening VIEW Club Meeting
- August 8, Mittagong RSL, 6.30pm for a 7pm start
Women with a passion for helping disadvantaged children and looking to make new friends, are invited to come along to the next Southern Highlands Evening (SHE) VIEW Club meeting. The club, along with VIEW Clubs across the country, fundraise and supports The Smith Family's learning and mentoring programs. The guest speaker is real estate agent Judy Fisk, who will speak about her career in real estate and experiences with Girl Guides in the Highlands. Service NSW Mobile Service Centre
- August 9, Argyle Street, Moss Vale near the Clock Tower, 10am-3pm
You can go to this pop-up venue to access different Service NSW services. The team can help people with the following:
- Driver licence, photo card applications and renewals
- Driver Knowledge Tests
- Working With Children Check applications
- Applying for birth, death and marriage certificates
Lunchtime concert with Brett McKern
- August 10, St Jude's Church, 1.15pm
Organist Brett McKern will entertain guests with different melodies at this concert. It is part of the St. Jude's Music Associations initiative to showcase emerging artists. People can enter with a donation.
Kids Connect
- Every Wednesday, Bowral Uniting Church, 3.30-5pm
Primary school aged children are welcome to come along to make some friends and enjoy some food and faith. Dinner is provided and kids can bring a friend for a two dollar donation. You can contact Tammy on 0400851364 to learn more. It is a BMUC families ministry initiative.
JP Service
Two certified Justice of the Peace volunteers are present to witness documents weekly at the following locations:
- Springett's Arcade, Bowral: every Wednesday from 10am to 1pm.
- Moss Vale IGA: every Thursday from 10am to 1pm.
- Mittagong Market Place: every Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
Traffic Committee Meeting
- August 11, council chambers, 9.30-11.30am
Residents can come along to these regular meetings. The traffic committee provides advice to the council about different affairs.
Railway Street Farmers Market
- Every Thursday, Corners of Railway Street and Spring Street, Moss Vale, 3-5.30pm
Grab some seasonal produce harvested by local growers and meet the people behind the produce. Those interested can call Elissa Thomson on 0450 276 320 for more information.
Energy 101
- August 13, Renwick Community Centre, 2-4pm
Learn more about energy with Adam Corrigan from Your Energy Your Friend. Adam will speak about bills, the basics of solar and batteries, as well as negotiating the best rates with your energy provider. This is part one of two workshops, with the second being held in October. The event is free but registration is essential and can be done through Eventbrite.
Calling for mementos for Robertson Public School's 150th anniversary
Do you have treasured photos or memorabilia from Robertson Public School? They can be featured in a unique display that will celebrate 150 years of history. Mementos such as photos, newsletters and artworks will be showcased in the school's original building for the festivities in September. If you have something you want to share, or a USB with photos, they can be dropped off at the school office before September 9 with your contact details. Digital copies can also be sent to 150years@robertsonpublicschool.org.au
Callout for information: Avoca Public School 150th anniversary
Avoca Public School will be celebrating its 150th birthday in October. Staff are looking for community members who may have information on the school's history they would like to share. Any stories from past students, teachers and principals or photos would be greatly received.
