Grab the popcorn
See the highly anticipated film Jurassic Park: Dominion (M) from Thursday, June 9, or the Metropolitan Opera's performance of Don Carlos (CTC) on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. The opera will be screened at 1pm and general admission tickets are $28 and $24 for concession holders. You can see these, plus more at the Empire Cinema. General movie tickets are $13 each for adults and concession holders, and $48 for two adults and two children. They can be purchased on the cinema's website or in-person. Discover and Parents NSW vouchers can also be used.
Pie Time
A tasty month
The region will be known as the Southern Pie-Lands during June, because you guessed it - it is Pie Time! Celebrate pie makers at different bakeries with the Pie Trail and participate in different themed events. Find more information and events Pie Time Destination Southern Highlands website.
Local history display at Berrima District Museum
The long weekend
Immerse yourself in some historical stories and artefacts with the Gardens and Landscapes of the Southern Highlands, Then and Now exhibition. It showcases different stories across digital screens and displays. There will be games and activities for younger visitors. Come and see it all at the Berrima District Museum at 1a Market Place, at the corner of Bryan Street, from Saturday, June 11 to Monday, June 13. Admissions are $10 per adult and children can enter for free. The museum is open from 10am to 4pm.
World Gin Day and Live Music with Jimmy Vann
This weekend
Celebrate World Gin Day with and ease your way into winter with Jimmy Vann. The lead singer of The Vanns will entertain everyone at the Robertson Public House and Kitchen on Saturday, June 11 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. You can enjoy a meal and book a table by calling the venue on 4885 1202, or emailing enquiries@robertsonpublichouse.com.au. There will be an all day gin menu.
Lunch time concert: Home and Hearth
This weekend
Relax by a fire and listen to a series of sonatas performed in a historic church. Soprano Danielle Grant, violinist Tara Hashambhoy and pianist Diana Weston will bring different symphonies to life. Popular songs, along with improvisations from violinist Ann Carr-Boyd will also be performed. You can go to St Jude's Church in Bowral on Saturday, June 11 at 2.30pm. Bookings can be made by calling 4868 1768 or 0411 375 821. Tickets are $5 each, and can be paid for at the door. Card is accepted.
Highlands Music Collective: Concert for Soprano and Strings
This weekend
The Highlands Music Collective is bringing Baroque and classical symphonies to the region. Alison Claire Robertson will offer her skills as a soprano and will be joined by violinists Myee Clohessy and Alexandra Dening, viola player Laura McCrow and cellist Catherine Barnett. Artistic director Myee Clohessy will showcase scores from Mozart. You can sit back and relax at this concert on Sunday, June 12 at the Burrawang School of Arts from 2pm to 3.30pm. Tickets for adults are $40 each, $35 for concession holders, $10 for children under 18 and $100 for a family of two adults and three children. Afternoon tea is also included. Bowral Market
This weekend
Come along to one of the region's oldest markets and discover a wide range of stalls offering freshly baked goods and produce, textiles, crafts and more. Head over to the Bowral Bowling Club from 8am to 1pm on Saturday, June 11 to check it out.
The Pop-Up Project
This weekend
Artists, residents, and visitors can experience the region's rich culture with this open studio event. The Pop-Up Project's event will feature 13 studios, 18 creatives and two cafes displaying art work. People will discover traditional and contemporary works, textiles and more. You can find a map of the creative trail on the Southern Tablelands Arts website, or pick up a hard copy at the Destination Southern Highlands centre. Explore the creative spaces from Saturday, June 11 to Monday, June 13 from 10am to 4pm.
Robertson Markets
This weekend
This market is full of bric-a-brac, knitted items, antiques, tasty treats and more! Head over to the Robertson School of Arts on Sunday, June 12 from 8.30am to 2pm.
Exhibition: From Little Things
Lots to discover
Mudgee-based artist Denise Faulkner showcases her skills with watercolours in this exhibition. A dozen artworks are on display, which vary in size. The intricate paintings are of animals and plants. You can discover all of Denises's masterpieces until Sunday, June 19 at the Michael Reid Southern Highlands gallery in Berrima.
