Neely and Fraser defeated Julie Hayden and Kevin Stafford 24-13 to take out the mixed pairs championship on Easter Saturday.
The first 14 ends were very tight with Neely and Fraser having a slender lead 12-11.Then Neely and Fraser had a top spell of bowling and returning to their winning ways, completely outplaying Hayden and Stafford tyo finish the match after 20 ends.
Neely and Fraser booked their name on the shield for a fourth time and at the presentation Glen Giese mentioned that the shield was named after Bob Richards who was a former state player and top line bowler at Bowral for many years.
More rounds of the handicap singles were played with some surprise results.
Alistair McGhee came from behind to defeat terry Norwood 31-25 and sent a message to other bowlers that he will be a threat to take out the title.
Glen Giese defeated Dave Coltman 31-22. Before the match started Giese informed the marker that he had made a mistake on the score card after the game was washed out and the marker had Giese leading 9-3 but he said this was incorrect and the score should be 9-4.
This was a fine sporting gesture by Giese who later went on to win by nine shots, this was a great win as Coltman has a much higher ranking between the pair.
Stephen Della defeated Ashley Lewis 31-20. This game was expected to be close and it was after 20 ends with Della leading 16-14. The match then took a big turn with Della completely outdrawing Lewis.
In fact Lewis had to attack the head to try and get out of trouble which was a unusual position for him and from this his shots did not come off and Della took the game by 11 shots to move into the next round.
