What you can watch
You can watch two new films at the cinemas this week. See the much-anticipated action thriller Ambulance (MA) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (M) from Thursday, April 7 at Empire Cinema. General movie tickets are $13 each for adults and concession holders, and $48 for two adults and two children. They can be purchased on the cinema's website or in-person.
Railway Street Farmers Market
Local produce
Grab some seasonal produce harvested by local growers this week. Attendees also have the opportunity to meet the growers at the market. Those interested can call Elissa Thomson on 0450 276 320 for more information. Go to the corners of Railway Street and Spring Street in Moss Vale on Thursday, April 7 from 3pm to 5.30pm.
The Most Enjoyable Little Film Night
A fun night
Come along for a free film for all ages, The Biggest Little Farm, and free ice-cream. You can bring your own picnic, mosquito repellent, rug, and wear warm clothes. You can also buy food from some local eateries. Head over to Wards Lane in Mittagong on Friday, April 8 from 6pm to 9pm. This is a free event.
Ngununggula Nights
A relaxing night
You can listen to some live music by rising star Ben Malone, sip a cocktail, do some late-night art viewing and munch on food from Hearth by Moonacres this week. Come along for another round of Ngununggula Nights on Friday, April 8 at Ngununggula from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets for adults are $16.91 each, $13.75 for concession holders, $6.36 for teenagers and $38.01 for two adults and two children. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
Big Little Laneway Festival
This weekend
There are lots of activities everyone can enjoy. Eat tasty food from local restaurants, enjoy some local wine, do some live mural painting and listen to live music. Kids can also enjoy some art activities. Head over to the Wards Lane in Mittagong on Saturday, April 9 from 5pm to 10pm. This is a free event.
Bowral Markets
This weekend
This local market is full of local producers, arts and crafts, artisans, clothing, plants and more. Head over to the Bowral Bowling Club on Saturday, April 9 from 8am to 1pm to check it all out.
Berrima Village Hall Concert
Something to look forward to
Sit back, relax and listen to a variety of performances from artists and musicians. Ann Carr-Boyd will perform two new suites, where one is about a black poodle named Percy. Hear the cello, piano solos and duets, singers and poetry. You can watch these performances on Sunday, April 10 from 2.30pm at the Berrima Village Hall opposite the Magpie Café. Tickets are $35 each for general admission and $20 for students. They can be secured by calling Lyndall on 0408 839 687 or emailing lyndall1906@bigpond.com.
WTF Cubist Still Life Exhibition
Lots to discover
This exhibition is a fusion of French Cubism with modern techniques and graphics. Ric Abel was a successful restauranteur in Manly before he became a full-time artist who resides in the Highlands. You can see this showcase at Spud Lane Studios until Sunday, April 24.
Exhibition: Road to Nowhere by Andrew Kelly
Arts Galore
Andrew brings themes from his childhood, and unique urban and Australian landscapes to this exhibition. You can see the collection of artworks at the Milk Factory until Sunday, May 1. The gallery is open from 10am to 4pm from Thursday to Monday.
John Olsen: Goya's Dog
Lots to see
Discover art from John Olsen's incredible 80 year art career. He is an artist from the Highlands who has travelled across the globe throughout his professional life. The showcase is full of drawings, sketches, which includes new artworks and pieces that have only been in private collections. You can see this unique exhibition at Ngununggula until Sunday, May 15.
EVOLVE: an Artists of the Round Yard exhibition
Art in two locations
Discover a range of artworks by local artists. You can explore a variety of paintings, sculptures and ceramics in Retford Park and the White Cottage Gallery in Wentworth Falls. You can check out the artworks in Bowral from Friday to Monday from 10am to 4pm until Monday, May 16.
