Automatic doors at CTC Robertson will 'make a big difference' for everyone

The Robertson resident said she has often had to put her "stuff down on the floor" to open the door.

A new automatic door is going to become a reality thanks to a Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal's Strengthening Rural Communities Grant as part of their bushfire recovery incentives.

"For me, it's very hard to open the door," she said.

"It would've made it so easy for me and other people too."

She said she worried about the risk of falling when she puts her things down.

The automatic sliding doors will be installed at the back entrance near the disability parking and the ramp.

CTC Robertson President Jenny Kena said this has been a priority for years, and it was exciting to get it in motion.

"This project will improve all of our little precincts," she said.

"We aim to be a very welcoming and accessible centre because we have a lot of older people who use the centre as well, we want to help them too."

The project will be completed over the next 12 months.

"The two benefits are improved disabled access, and safer access in terms of COVID," the President said.

Ms Kena said that it took a while to secure funding, and that it was great the FRRR and a donor came on board.

The new additions will make it more convenient and accessible for people who come to the centre for different reasons.

CTC is a not-for-profit hub for exhibitions, creative events, technology workshops and is hired for community meetings and workshops.
