The 100% Home Grown concerts have been born out of a determination by Highland FM to promote local bands and individual performers impacted by COVID-19 lockdowns.
The concept, supported by Music NSW, Southern Tablelands Arts, and Southern Highland News, intitially aimed to provide promotion and airplay for the artists.
However, not content to provide airplay-only support for the entertainers, Highland FM station manager Adam Stokeld, and 100% Home-Grown presenter Lea Steed decided they wanted to do even more for the region's musical talent.
Plans to deliver quarterly concerts were soon in the pipeline and the first live offering on the calendar was a sold-out concert held in early December.
The second concert held on March 18 was equally successful with entertainment provided by the January, February and March featured artists on Highland FM.
The evening kicked off with the soothing folk sounds of 'Two If By Sea'. This was followed by the impressive rock offerings of Speed Dial who shared a mix of great covers and some even more inspiring original tunes. Wrapping up the evening was a blend of Aussie folk, roots and a bit of bluegrass from Kiama-based band The Water Runners.
If the cheers, clapping, dancing and smiles all-round were any indication then concert number two was yet another hit.
There is already talk of the third quarterly concern. In the meantime you can check out the featured talent to-date at https://www.highlandfm.org.au/
