It was a celebration of local talent motivated by a desire to show support to local performers that had struggled to do what they do best - entertain - through COVID restrictions.
The management and staff at Highland FM decided to turn the spotlight on this local talent during the height of the most recent COVID shutdown.
They promoted the music on the airwaves and online. And, with the support of Music NSW, Southern Tablelands Arts, and Southern Highland News, the promotional reach of this homegrown talent was extended even further.
However, not content to provide airplay-only support for the entertainers, Highland FM station manager Adam Stokeld, and 100% Home-Grown presenter Lea Steed decided they wanted to do even more for the region's musical talent.
No sooner had the COVID lockdown lifted, and plans were underway to present a 100% Home-Grown concert featuring the first three artists showcased on the Highland FM Home-Grown program.
As far as Adam was concerned it was the ideal way to put local talent where they shone - on the stage.
That first concert was held at Bowral Bowling Club on December 4 and was a sell-out event.
The evening was a treat for the musical senses with the line-up including relative newcomer singer/songwriter Sara Berki, 16-year-old Isy Cappo who has been a part of the music scene for about three years, and Ross Webb and The Rusted Track serving up a country twist on a rocking good night.
The verdict from the audience seemed clear - the entertainment was outstanding and 100% Home-Grown paved the way for a great night out.
Even better news for local performers and the audience is that the event is set to become a regularly attraction on the Southern Highlands calendar.
Adam is already putting the wheels in motion for the next concert penciled in for March 2022.
He said there was plenty more homegrown talent out there with several shceduled to feature on Highland FM's 100% Home-Grown program over the next few months.
These same featured performers will also have the opportunity to showcase their talent at the next concert.
