This new role was a key initiative of the council to improve support and communication to Highland villages.
Shortly after his appointment interim administrator Viv May embarked on a series of community visits across the Shire.
"I quickly learnt that many residents felt disenfranchised from the council - especially those living in the shire's outlying areas," he said.
The council's general manager Lisa Miscamble said the Place Liaison Officer would act as a conduit into council and would work closely with residents to assist in progressing the needs of villages and localities.
"At the same time the role will coordinate responsibilities within the council's various departments ensuring a more streamlined and cohesive vision is delivered for each village."
Ms Miscamble said Corinne had a great knowledge of the local community, in particular the villages, gained from having worked in several council roles including Customer Service and most recently as the Shire's Bushfire Recovery Officer.
"Corinne brings a vast wealth of local knowledge to the role which I'm confident residents will relate to," she said.
For the past two years Corinne has worked closely with residents from the Shire's bushfire impacted villages advocating for support and grant funding.
"I'm keen to build on existing relationships and work with residents to identify infrastructure and community development opportunities they determine as critical for their village," she said.
One of Ms Buxton's first roles will be to accompany the council's executive team, including the general manager, on the Listening Tour, an 18-stop tour of the Shire beginning in March.
