The show will not be held as planned this month due to COVID-19.
"The Berry Show Committee and Auxiliary is devastated to announce the cancellation of the upcoming Berry Show on January 28 and January 29," the group announced in a statement.
"At a committee meeting on Sunday January 16 , it was decided that with current circumstances we could not deliver a show at the end of this month.
"When making this decision, our committee of 55 had to consider the challenges we face with the current surge of Omicron cases in NSW, consider our core values and assess our priorities. Clearly those are with our people, who must come first, because without them, there can be no shows, now or in the future.
"We extend our sincere apologies to our show community, those who were looking forward to exhibiting and competing, those who were going to trade, those who were going to entertain and those who were coming to enjoy."
The Berry Show committee hopes the region's other shows will go ahead.
"We are aware other shows in our region are trying to forge ahead and overcome the challenges they face and we wish them well and every success, for us, this is not a feasible option," the group's statement continued.
Many factors weighed into the group's decision to call the show off.
Factors like growing numbers of committee and volunteers in isolation as close contacts, personal and family risk of illness in to the committee, individual committee and volunteers willingness to participate with the high numbers of cases, and the impact of COVID-19 on exhibitor numbers in at the show's competitions were all considered.
"As a committee and auxiliary working towards Berry Shows, it's not in our nature as a collective to say 'no' to things. We are used to achieving seemingly insurmountable tasks as a team, especially at show time," the group explained in its statement.
"We are a bunch of positive people and we will continue to plan for the next Berry Show."
The community's safety was another reason why the show was cancelled
"We all love this community we live in and it is incumbent on us to keep our community safe as much as we can," the statement said.
"Thank you to our members, sponsors, exhibitors, competitors, traders and patrons.
"We look forward to welcoming you back when the timing is right. In the meantime keep in contact with your friends and family and stay safe.
"We will have that yarn and that laugh and catch up as soon as we can."
