Harry Lewis was recognised for this excellence as the MC in Downtown - the Musical, while teacher Kate Price was highly commended for a stellar career of directing and drama teaching.
Ms Price said she was grateful and surprised at her highly commended nod from CAT.
"As a performing arts teacher, I'm always grateful for the people I work with, from costume design, set to design to the music director. I'm really lucky."
Since she began in 2003 at Chevalier College, Ms Price has been involved in nine musicals and five plays.
She said one of her favourite performances was this year's Downtown.
"We had a talented cast, I worked with great people and it was a fun show from the 60s," she said.
"Top drama student Harry Lewis was also recognised for his performance in Downtown. The judges came up to me and told me how impressed they were with Harry."
Ms Price said she was pleased with Harry and his accomplishments and revealed that he had also helped co-direct Downtown.
More than 60 participants received recognition at the combined 26th and 27th CAT Awards, dubbed 'Cats Interrupted' on Sunday, December 19.
CATS Founder Coralie Wood said the judges had attended more than 40 productions in the past two years.
"It's about a quarter the number they would have judged in normal times," she said.
"So in all fairness, we couldn't pretend it's business as usual. That's why we've come up with 'CATS Interrupted'.
"It was very different to our usual awards night, but it was very much enjoyed by the audience in the theatre and watching online."
