The Roberston-based singer songwriter has been selected in the Academy of Country Music's 2022 senior course in Tamworth. She is one of 29 students chosen from the Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria and throughout NSW.
The Academy remains the only course of its kind in the world and provides students with opportunities they may not otherwise have.
From January 4, the students will spend 10 days with some of the top Australian country music artists for the intensive senior course.
Tutors for 2022 are Golden Guitar winners Ashleigh Dallas, Kevin Bennett and Lachlan Bryan, led by director Lyn Bowtell and general manager Roger Corbett.
During the course, the students are immersed in all aspects of the music business, musical performance, songwriting, promotion, and recording, among other aspects of making a career in the industry, all from top industry insiders including INXS's Andrew Farriss, Troy and Jem Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers, Mike Carr, Catherine Britt, The Buckleys, Melody Moko, Allan Caswell, and Aleyce Simmonds.
Amber's love of music began at Leura in the Blue Mountains before heading south to Robertson where she lives on a farm with her family, horses and Maton guitar.
A late arrival on the music scene, she only picked up the guitar in 2014 to finally compose the songs that had been sitting inside her for many years. Her natural rawness and beauty creates a beguiling melody and honest lyricism illustrating a gift beyond her years of experience.
Her passion as a singer songwriter is born from hours of listening to Lauren Hill, Tina Harrod, Melissa Etheridge, Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin all of whom she's lovingly studied and experienced live many times.
A self-taught starter with the help of some special musician friends, Amber has now paired with Ben Fink to produce her first EP and is performing live and locally with established players like Jo Caseley.
The Academy graduation will be at the Frog and Toad Conference Centre at 8pm on Thursday, January 13.
