Moss Vale Showground to host special pre-Christmas markets in December
Highlanders will have the opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done and buy from local artisans and growers next month. There will also be activities for everyone including rides and showbags, and live music and fresh food for everyone to enjoy.
Southern Highlands students reimagine Shakespeare with their award-winning short films
Three students in the Highlands with a passion for creating films have been awarded at the Bell Shakespeare Shorts Festival for their reinterpretations of some classic plays. Isla and Toby from Robertson Public School won the Excellence in Performance Award and the Top Primary Film for The Writer's Room. Bowral High School student David Remm's film Fool For Hire won the Creative Vision Prize and the Top Secondary Film.
A Rotary Club in the Southern Highlands brings smiles to first responders at a retreat
One Rotary Club in the Highlands is back helping the community with local events after restrictions have eased. Members from the Rotary Club of Bowral-Mittagong catered for a weekend retreat for the Australian First Responders Foundation (AFRF) in Penrose last week. The educational retreat is the "first of its kind in Australia" and gives first responders the opportunity to "reconnect, reframe and reset" through different activities.
Club records broken as Bowral Little Athletics leaps into action
Young athletes gave it their all and broke two records when Bowral Little Athletic started up again on November 5. One Highlander broke the 2020/21 Under 13 Girls javelin record throwing 28.62m and another set a new Under 11 Girls shot put record, breaking the milestone in 2021/13.
Moss Vale High School student Jeremy Millward raises $4000 for mental health charity, receives recognition
Jeremy Millward has been determined to raise awareness for mental health, and spread the message around the Highlands. The Year 12 student set himself a goal in the lead-up to R U OK day in September, and has been able to achieve that goal with the help of the community. He sold face masks and socks across pharmacies in Moss Vale and at Moss Vale high school and has raised $4000.
