Frensham already can boast of wonderful facilities in its beautiful grounds. But its greatest asset of all is the Lower Holt. What other school can offer an area close to the boarding houses where students can observe our native animals first hand? The site has been declared suitable for koala rehabilitation as some of the eucalyptus species are suitable koala food. Such a program, if it were to involve the girls, would make Frensham unique. Other programs such as helping wombats in the fight against mange have already been implemented in the Lower Holt and have had enthusiastic support from the girls.

Revegetation of some of the areas where radiata pines predominate could also be a long term project, knowing of course that those maligned pine trees are ecosystems in their own right and provide valuable shelter for birds and other wildlife, including koalas.

My recommendation, as having been a long time teacher at Frensham, along with many others in the community, is to keep the Lower Holt as it is - an amazing remnant forest home to a multitude of wildlife. An opportunity for students to engage in nature in such a dynamic way surely is Frensham's greatest asset.

Wingecarribee Shire consistently reports fewer covid notifications and more covid vaccinations on a daily basis (both numbers and rates) than any other Local Government Area in South West Sydney Local Health District and many other LGAs in our commuting zones and Greater Sydney. Yet, stay-at-home restrictions have been extended for us. Why? Shouldn't our local State Member of Parliament be representing concerns about this inequity to the Deputy Premier who appears to be in charge of this, and reporting back to us?
