A South Western Sydney Local Health District spokesperson said there were five cases of COVID-19.
"They are close contacts and have been isolating," they said.
"These cases are in addition to the four cases reported in the Shire in July, who have now recovered."
The SWSLHD spokesperson also clarified that there were zero COVID-19 deaths at Bowral and District Hospital.
According to the NSW Health website, one case was recorded in the 2575 postcode, while another four cases were recorded in the 2576 postcode.
No other information is known.
Currently there are zero COVID-19 exposure sites in the Southern Highlands and zero traces of the virus have been detected in the three treatment plants in Moss Vale, Bowral and Mittagong.
A further case linked to a Moss Vale medical practice is not linked to the Southern Highlands.
In Goulburn, Cooma and Bega, virus fragments have been detected in the local sewage systems.
Southern NSW Local Health District has urged the Cooma, Goulburn and Bega communities to get tested with even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms following the detection of fragments of the virus in the local sewage systems in the last 48 hours.
This is the first detection at Bega since the start of the Sydney outbreak.
There are no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bega or Cooma. SNSWLHD is concerned that the presence of these fragments could signal undetected cases in the community.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro said he was not concerned over the sewage in Goulburn.
"We are aware of three cases in Goulburn and we know that people shed the virus," he said.
"Shedding happens for up to 14 days, even more.
"We are worried about Bega and Cooma... but it could be people passing through."
Residents are reminded to get tested at the onset of even the slightest symptoms and to follow the current stay at home restrictions.
