With this in mind the Southern Highlands Evening branch of CWA of NSW and Southern Highlands Police recently joined forces to run a series of information seminars on How to Protect Yourself from Frauds and Scams during the month of July.
These provided valuable information and educated attendees about the best way to avoid becoming a victim to these crimes.

The seminars were held at a range of locations where venues were generously made available across the Southern Highlands including Mittagong, Robertson and Colo Vale.
Sadly the last two seminars that were scheduled at Exeter and Moss Vale had to be postponed because of growing concerns about Covid-19, but hopefully they will be held later in the year.
SHE CWA member Maryke Archbold-Hession worked tirelessly with Chief Inspector Jason Horn and Detective Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie, Hume Police District crime manager to put these together and did an excellent job.
The members of the Southern Highlands Evening CWA branch helped to promote the events and attended as participants.
At the seminars copies of The Little Black Book of Scams were distributed.
These are pocket-sized guides from the ACCC to help people spot, avoid and protect themselves against scams.
They are free and can be obtained from BDCU in Bowral and the Police in Moss Vale; or they can be downloaded from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) website.
You cannot be too careful these days and people need to be kept up-to-date with advice on how to protect themselves. Sincere thanks is extended to everyone involved.
