Described as "rugby on horseback", polo player Charlie Fenton said he was looking forward to the round robin match on May 1.

Mr Fenton said he wanted people to come along for the game, even if they weren't familiar with the sport.

"We want people to have fun and a bit of a laugh," he said.

"It's just a good bunch of country people coming to have some fun."

Mr Fenton said the bushfires and pandemic had contributed to the lack of polo in the region.

"The weather and grass is ideal for some matches," he said.

"It's just good to get back on the horse and for people to enjoy and to socialise."

He said that it would be "very competitive" on the day.

"There is a lot is at stake," he said.

"Even though we are mates, it will be different when the whistle is blown."

The match will take at Fentons Run from midday, with spectators encouraged to arrive by 11am.

Families and friends can book a table to watch the Southern Highlands Brewery Team, Bendooley Estate and High Rangers compete in a round robin on May 1.

A Mother's tournament Day will take place at Goulburn Polo Club on May 8 - 9. The Spring tournament will commence in September.
