The sound of kettles boiling is set to ring across the nation on Thursday, May 27, for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and Southern Highlands home bakers are being asked to put their best recipes to the test with Gumnut Patisserie judging.
Wilson Financial in Southern Highlands is building on the success of their event last year and will host a Southern Highlands Biggest Bake Off.
Founder of Wilson Financial, Elizabeth Wilson said the aim was to get the whole community involved this year and do something fun for a good cause.
"We are calling all home cooks and aspiring young chefs from the Highlands to get baking for the Cancer Council," she said.
"It is an honour to be part of Australia's Biggest Morning Tea again this year. We tried something different last year due to not being able to host our usual Morning Tea, but we had such a wonderful response, we are going to continue this tradition now.
"We are grateful to have the support from Gumnut Patisserie again this year and they have also generously donated a 'Be A Pastry Chef For A Day' prize for the winner of the Sweets category."
Community relations coordinator for the Southern Highlands Brooke Manzione said that the Cancer Council is so fortunate to receive support from businesses like Wilson Financial.
"Liz and her team have put so much into this idea and it is really inspiring to see what they have come up with to address the challenges of hosting events during Covid 19," she said.
"The have created something unique and inclusive, the whole community can get involved in this.
"We all have a baker (or aspiring chef) in our household, so please register. Your support will enable us to continue our work in cancer research, prevention programs, advocacy and support services like our Southern Highlands Transport to Treatment Program."
