Ashley Lewis defeated Clive Neutze 31-30 to reach the quarterfinals of the major singles championship, but he had to come back from behind for the win.

The match was played over a unbelievable 41 ends to decide the winner.
For the first 20 ends Lewis played the better draw shots to have a 18-13 lead.
Until Neutze started to put pressure on Lewis and after 26 ends the scores equal 20-20
Neutze shot to a 29-23 lead after 36 ends while Lewis remained frozen on the rink.
Neutze only required two shots to win and Lewis looked like going no where.
Lewis, hoping to get back into the match, could not get the shots he required.

With the score on 30-25 in favour of Neutze it appeared that Neutze would move into the quarter finals.
Lewis had to dig deep and this he did scoring 3 shots on the 39th end to trail 30-28 then scoring two shots on the 40th end to get on level terms 30-30.
And what a finish on the 41st end, and what proved to be the final end, Lewis drew two shots and Neutze had a drive with his last bowl but only knocked one bowl out off the head. Lewis survived by one shot to go into the quarterfinals, denying Neutze victory.
Team Forrester has a one shot victory
Ted McPhee, Kevin Gould and Chris Forrester defeated John Fleming, Eric Willacy and Robin Staples 18-17 in the social match of the day.
This match held interest from start to finish with team Forrester holding a 18-10 lead with four ends to play.
Then team Staples put in a great finish to win the last four shots picking up seven shots. But eventually it was team Forrester holding on for a one shot win.

Paul Rubie, Bill Pope and John Cummins defeated Lawrence Vipond, Jack Davis and Gordon Lewis 23-18.
Harold Wall and David Noble defeated Ken Looke and Jim Starkey 23-14.
