All the hard work put in from season 2020/21, this is the game Highland District Cricket Players sweat and bleed to be a part of.
To find out who was going to be crowned premiers, Robertson-Burrawang Bulls faced off with Bowral Cricket Club at Bradman Oval over the March 27-28 weekend.
This was Bowral's first grand final in 10 years and they were at the crease first.
The Bulls got off to a flyer and dismissed the Bowral opening batsmen quickly.
Early on there was wickets taken by Bulls, Nathan Ring and Mason King and Bowral sat at 2/11.
King was on fire taking another wicket sitting at 3/12.
After drinks, the game sat at 4/70.
Robertson came out after drinks like a bull in a china shop, getting a run out wicket for 5/84.
Continuing on his fiery bowling attack, Mason King took his third wicket making it 6/93.
Then stepped in Dean Roxburgh. Roxburgh took his first wicket to make it 7/93. Taking two in two overs Roxburgh made it 8/94. But, he wasn't done there.
Roxburgh took his third wicket at 9/109.
Bowral ended the day all out for 116.
Robertson began their batting campaign with 1/57 off 13 overs in their batting.
The Bulls clinched the first innings and it was stumps at 3/16 for the first innings.
Day two began at 12pm at Bradman Oval on Sunday, March 28.
The Bulls put in work and set a target of 232.
Bowral displayed courage and made some wonderful shots at bat, trying to chase down the target, but Bowral were all out for 188.
Both teams shook hands and it was official, the Bulls were back-to-back champions.
Robertson Bulls captain Nathan Wright said it was a great accomplishment.
"It makes this victory feel great, much more different than a COVID win," Wright said.
"It was great to get out there, get some runs and score some wickets.
"There were some concerns with the weather, but if it rained, we finished first in the comp so we would have won it, but we really just wanted to play.
"We've won a few washouts, but it was a real credit to the ground staff at Bradman Oval to ensure we had a game. We're really happy to get out there and play.
Playing and captaining all 11 of Robertson's final appearances, this one was a sweet victory.
"Considering when I first started first grade, we were getting flogged every week," Wright said.
"It's been a great turn around. A real credit goes to the club. It's family orientated and all about mateship.
"I'm really happy with the club."
With the victory celebration in full swing, some of the boys even got behind the mic in the early hours of Monday, March 29 morning.
"Robbo Bowling Club put on a open mic and a few blokes got on it," Wright laughed.
"We finished up around three o'clock in the morning and we'll be continuing on throughout Monday."
Congratulations to the Robertson-Burrawang Bulls, 2020/21 premiers!
