Several big names and a few new names will take to the field for the Cauliflower Club XV (CC XV) as they raise money for charity.
Cauliflower Club president Steve Adamson said the CC XV was a vehicle to promote the Cauliflower Charity and raise funds for the disabled and disadvantaged.
"Two of our organisations we support are Sargood on Collaroy which is a rehabilitation resort for people who have suffered catastrophic injuries and Wheelchair Sports NSW.
"We've provided sporting equipment such as kayaks for Sargood, specially adjusted pool tables and also provided trailers and wheelchairs for Wheelchair Sports NSW.
"We're also big supported of the Gladiators Wheelchair Rugby as well."
Mr Adamson said the team were starting their day with a round of golf at Moss Vale Golf Course.
"We're playing for a special mug in memory of one of our guys that passed away this time last year. It will be his birthday tomorrow," he said.
"We are a very social club, full of old boys around Australia and country NSW and we are looking forward to the off-field social aspect as well as the on-field game.
"It's a very social aspect to the weekend and we are looking forward to playing the Bowral Wilted Tulips.
"We are all looking forward to getting together again after 18 months."
Mr Adamson said the team would also be introducing several debutantes.
"We've got two Wallabies, Tatafu Polata-Nau and Beau Robinson. We've also got two country boys, James Bullock and Ian Filmer from the South Coast," he said.
"They will be making their debut and we are looking forward to bringing them into the fold."
Part of the CC XV tour in the Highlands included rugby skills for school-aged children on March 26 at 4:30 pm at Eridge Park.
Mr Adamson said it would be a lot of fun for them.
"All of us in the CC XV are parents and we are conscious that rugby for the young ones is a fun exercise," he said.
"They need to discover the love of the game and we will have Dean Munn and Tatafu Polata-Nau there to make sure they have lots of fun.
"We've got the Waratah's to assist as well. It's going to be a great session for the kids."
Bowral Blacks president Mark Freund said he was looking forward to the start of the rugby season and the Cauliflower Club game as part of the 'Back to Bowral' weekend.
"It's a big day at the club and it's the first-round game for the boys since the renovations have been done," he said.
"A lot of our members and supporters haven't seen the new renovations and is a 'Back to Bowral' weekend, a lot of guys will be coming back to the area for the weekend.
"But to raise money as a club is something we grab on to with both hands. We enjoy helping out in the community and helping other communities.
"It's a great opportunity to give back."
Mr Freund said a few of the Cauliflower Boys were eager to give the boys a hand at the rugby skills event.
"We've got some ex Wallabies and ex Waratah's coming down," he said.
"It gives the kids something to do on a Friday night and it's a bit of extra professional coaching for the kids."
While the Wilted Tulips don't have any former Wallabies in the team, they do have some big local names lined up.
"We've got a couple of live members, Val Tyson and myself will be having a bit of a run around tomorrow," he said.
"We've got big names in the Highlands and I'm sure there will be a lot of laughs out there tomorrow especially playing up against some of the guys in the CC XV.
"The boys just love getting together and having a good run and muck around.
"It's all in good fun and it's a good opportunity to raise some funds for people in need."
The Bowral Blacks will also host a season launch dinner on Friday 26 where former Wallabies Peter FitzSimons will be a guest speaker.
Mr FitzSimons also donated a Cauliflower Club XV jersey signed by the likes of George Gregan, John Eales and Rod McQueen for the 1999 Rugby World Cup squad for auction.
Mr Adamson said the profits would go towards the Cauliflower Club charity.
"We really want people to dig deep tonight," he said.
"We'd love to have as many people as possible come down and support us.
A sausage sizzle barbecue will be held after the Rugby Skills and Drills event at Eridge Park for a gold coin donation. Money will go towards to the Cauliflower Club charity.
All are welcome to come down.
