Southern Highlands National Servicemen's Association patron, Pru Goward, gave the commemoration address. Also present were Goulburn MP, Wendy Tuckerman and Mayor Duncan Gair, who both expressed strong support for the memorial redevelopment project. Veterans and guests admired the new sandstone memorial that had been expertly crafted by Sutton Forest stonemason, Frank Alves of Stone Statement.

This year is the 70th anniversary of the introduction of universal conscription for military service in Australia.
The Berrima Light Horse and the Highlands Pipes and Drums participated in the ceremony and lent a military air and a sense of history to the ceremony. Piper, Hamish Stephen, played the Lament and bugler Liam Nyholm sounded the Last Post and the Reveille.
