The rainfall was heavy and winds peaked at 46km per hour at 8:33pm as the stormed kicked in.
Just after 8.30pm on Monday, February 1 a slow moving frontal system brought thunderstorms and heavy rain throughout the area.
By 10.15pm the Moss Vale Weather Station had recorded 41mm in under two hours, with locally higher falls.
25mm fell in the first half hour. By midnight, 45.6mm had fallen.
At 3am the rainfall peaked at 50.8mm. A late, strong gush of wind at 4:43am saw winds at 37km per hour.
Flash flooding was widespread on many roads and built-up areas.
The bureau is forecasting clearing thunderstorms through the morning with mostly cloudy skies, with patchy light rain and a high of 19 degrees in Bowral.
