As well, the digital gallery now has 10 large screen QLED monitors and sound equipment to provide an unforgettable visual digital experience.
The museum opens Wednesday to Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.
This includes during school and public holiday periods, but not on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
Admission is $10 for adults and free for accompanied children.
All social distancing requirements are being adhered to, so now is an excellent opportunity to visit with family and friends.
The building is air-conditioned, can accommodate wheelchairs and walking frames, and has ample parking available out front.
During lockdown, exhibits were cleaned and repaired and the premises received a major overhaul, including the installation of several new large glass displays and a renovation of the museum entrance, kitchen and meeting area.
The museum's fixed and on-screen displays illustrate aspects of the history of the Berrima District, now the Wingecarribee Shire and also known as the Southern Highlands of NSW.
Early major industries including dairying and trachyte are portrayed with stories and objects, along with period kitchen appliances, medical equipment and vintage clothing, and much more besides to view, enjoy and learn about.
Activities and games are available for younger visitors to help them feel at home and learn about the objects on display.
The Story Centre Berrima District Museum welcomes group bookings. Please call John on 0434 623402, or for general enquiries call 4877 1130.
There are also other linked activities the whole family can enjoy while at Berrima.
A "Walking Guide to Historic Berrima" is available at the museum or it may be downloaded from the Southern Highlands Welcome Centre website.
As well there is the River Walk track at Berrima which commences in the recreation park at the river end of Oxley Street.
Signage along the walk marks the outdoor sites used by German merchant seamen interned at Berrima Gaol during World War I.
Their story is featured in the museum's 'Prisoners in Arcady' exhibition.
On the walk you will learn about structures built by the Germans along the Wingecarribee River.
