"It was an inter-club event. We had five kids venture down to Sanctuary Point Oval and it was really successful," Blake said.
"We had them doing a lot of PB'S. We really encourage them to push for that because that is something each individual can work towards.
"There is always going to be someone who is better, so it's excellent to see them doing so well in that area."
With all the physical accolades the athletes will be bringing home, it's not the only proud point for the club.
"It was impressive to see how much effort they put in," Blake said.
"I know those kids are in an age group with some really tough competition. They pushed each other hard.
"We're always proud of them. They are such genuinely great kids. We grow to expect it from them (laughs).
"They're good, wholesome kids who continually try and better themselves. They promote teamwork.
"We've tried to instill from the beginning that when we go to an event like the St George's Basin Derby, we go as a team, not just as an individual.
"We sit together, support one another, congratulate and commiserate if need be (laughs)."
