Dr Roche said the "unconfirmed summary is that one - or perhaps two parents - of a child at Moss Vale Primary School has tested positive for Covid 19, and their child/children are currently being tested for Covid 19.
"The results not yet to hand," he said.
"It seems that Moss Vale Primary School, a Moss Vale Pre-School (we don't know which one) and MVOOSH (out of hours school care) have been closed for tomorrow while we await test results."
According to a letter sent to parents on Thursday afternoon (November 5) the pre-school to be closed amid concerns is Southern Highlands Early Childhood Learning Centre.
Dr Roche said that until more information was at hand people needed to take full precautions.
"Reduce your contact with others outside your family as much as possible - but go to work and school (other than those listed) - and wear a mask when indoors (shopping, doctors appointments, work when close to others etc) and hand sanitisation for the next few days until the situation is clarified," he said.
"In the meantime, await public health unit advice by monitoring the media.
"Avoid gossip via social media as this is often ill-founded and await official advice.
"Families with pupils at those schools/pre-schools will be given specific advice - please watch for this."
