The road was closed in late July after flooding and a landslip severely damaged a section of the road above Misty Lane.
The NSW Government has declared the event "a natural disaster".

Kiama Council is working with NSW Public Works Advisory (PWA), which provides advice, planning, delivery and support services for critical infrastructure projects.
Macquarie Pass is being used as an alternative route.
While the road is closed, you can still access visitor attractions such as the Minnamurra Rainforest Centre from the Jamberoo end of the road.
You can also access sites such as the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk, Jamberoo Lookout and Barren Grounds Picnic Area from the Robertson end.
Local residents can also access their properties from Jamberoo up to Misty Lane and from Robertson to the Barren Grounds turnoff.
