NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said visitors may be allowed if the coronavirus cluster in the CBD remains under control.
There were recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19 as of 8 pm August 31. Two cases are in hotel quarantine and 11 cases were locally acquired.
Ms Berejiklian said if the cluster stays contained she may reconsider the ban on visits to nursing homes in time for Sunday.
"We will update the aged care advice later in the week ahead of Father's Day and may be able to ease restrictions on aged care," she said.
Currently nursing homes in the Southern Highlands are closed to the public.
A spokesperson for Harbison said they had no knowledge of if or when the NSW Health would update its advice to aged care providers.
"We are conducting virtual visits via Skype and other apps for Father's Day," they said.
Residents at Harbison Burradoo have the option of booking a visitor pod. It is limited to one resident and two visitors for a duration of 45 minutes. The pod is a temporary structure that is divided by a partition to keep residents safely isolated.
Each visitor will have their temperature taken and must wear a mask at all times. Bookings are essential.
Bowral House director of nursing Colette Beaufils said Bowral House will remain closed until they receive further updates from Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chan
"Unfortunately no one can visit unless it's for end of life, palliative care or a critical condition," she said.
"We do have 'Over the Fence' visits that have to be booked so there's no more than two people waiting.
"We've also increased staff for Father's Day to help with Skype visits which also need to be booked.
"Residents will also receive a special gift and there will be activities for the fathers and a roast dinner."
Visitors who enter Bowral House are required to have a flu vaccine and will have their temperatures checked, undergo a wellness check and wear full personal protection equipment, including masks, gloves and gowns.
Warrigal will also remain closed but have planned several activities for Father's Day.
Community relations coordinator Elsbeth Olalia said additional Samsung tablets were provided to each home to record messages from the residents about the significance of the day.
"We will have additional staff working to help facilitate calls to families," she said.
Planned activities at Warrigal include:
- Men's activities happening in morning
- Dining room decorated for fathers room, Lunch, beer wine
- Men Happy hour trivia in afternoon on the day
- Father's day gifts - Socks, chocolates, cards
